Almost every errand here involves White Plains Road, and almost every household has a driveway, which means cars spend their lives either on a fast commercial strip or parked at home under something leafy. That combination produces a particular mix of damage: highway-style stone chips from the daily run, and heavy impact breaks from whatever the weather knocks loose overnight onto a car nobody moved.
We like Eastchester work because the logistics are easy. There is nearly always somewhere to park a van beside your car, so mobile jobs go smoothly, and the drive down Route 22 to the shop is short enough that dropping a car off is no hardship either. The strip is the first culprit. Delivery trucks, contractor pickups and landscaping trailers work White Plains Road all day, dropping stone and losing gravel at every light, and the vehicle behind them collects it at windshield height. Winter is the second. Road salt gets laid down hard on the hills and the crossroads, and a windshield that already has a small pit tends to fail on the first genuinely cold morning when a driver cranks the defrost to full. Take Route 22 south. It runs the length of the town, crosses into Mount Vernon, and from there you swing east through the older commercial blocks to Washington Street. The Bronx River Parkway is faster if you are in a passenger car and heading south, but it is not legal for commercial plates, so anyone bringing a work vehicle should plan on the surface route from the start. Yes. Eastchester, Tuckahoe and the Bronxville side are all inside our normal in-shop and mobile range, and no part of the town is far enough out to change the price. What can change is scheduling. If two jobs sit close together on the same morning we will offer you the tighter window, so it is worth mentioning your cross street when you call.
