Broken side glass on a car parked in a building lot has a particular character: it is usually discovered in the morning, hours after it happened, with the interior already wet if it rained overnight. The first job is closing the car up. If your pane is a common one we can often replace it the same day, and if it has to come in we fit a board or heavy film so the seats stay dry and the car stops advertising itself while you wait for the part.
Then comes the cleaning, which takes longer than the fitting. Tempered glass empties into everything: the door cavity, the window channel, the seat rails, the carpet pile and the gap where the seat belt anchors. Cubes left in the channel scar the new pane the first time the window goes down and eventually foul the regulator, so the panel comes off and the cavity gets vacuumed rather than wiped. Once the new glass is on the regulator we cycle it several times, check the seal line and confirm the defroster or antenna connections are live. Only then does the interior get a final pass, because more cubes always surface once the door has been worked.
